The joint forces have recovered firearms, bullets and a large quantity of indigenous weapons during a drive in Narail's Lohagara upazila. Four people have been arrested during this time. Ujjwal Roy, District Representative from Narail said that on Thursday (January 15), the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Md. Abdur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Earlier, from midnight on Wednesday (January 14) to Thursday (January 15) morning, the accused along with weapons were arrested in a drive in Dighalia and Agrahati areas of the upazila.
The arrested are - Tofail Mandal (25), son of Md. Kamruzzaman Mandal of Dighalia village in the upazila, Md. Russell Biswas (19), Ismail Hossain alias Pintu (50), son of the deceased Nur Islam Gazi of Boishkhali village in Shyamnagar, Satkhira, and Aminur Gazi (45), son of the deceased Tofazzal Gazi of the same village.
Police said that a joint team of Lohagara Army Camp and Thana Police conducted a raid at night at the house of Tofail Mandal in Dighlia area of the upazila based on intelligence information. During this, a Chinese 7.62 mm pistol and magazine were recovered from the wardrobe of the house based on the information given by him. Later, three accused named Russell, Pintu and Aminur were arrested along with the accused Tofail from the fish enclosure of Chhotan Molya in Agrahati area of the upazila. Based on the information given by them, the joint forces recovered an air gun, 800 pieces of bullets, liquor, chapati, da, ramda and a large quantity of domestic weapons from different places in the enclosure.
In this regard, Lohagara Thana Police OC Md. Abdur Rahman said, as part of a regular operation ahead of the national elections, the army and police conducted a raid in the Dighalia area. A large number of domestic weapons, including firearms, were recovered during the operation. Four accused were arrested during this time.
