In Ramganj, Lakshmipur, an identified drug user and seller from the same area, Mohammad Roni, has been accused of beating up an elderly man named Belal Khan (60) for stopping him from consuming drugs. The incident took place at 10 pm on Sunday in Lakshmidhar Para village of Bholakot Union No. 9 of Ramganj Upazila.
According to local sources, drug user Mohammad Roni (27), son of Abul Kalam of Lakshmidhar Para village, has been dealing drugs in the area for a long time.
On Sunday at 10 pm, Roni and his associates were consuming marijuana in the abandoned house of Manjur Hossain Khan of Laxmidharpara Patwari Bari when Belal Khan of the same house forbade them from consuming marijuana.
Enraged by this incident, Roni and his associates beat Belal Khan with a stick and inflicted mortal injuries.
In this regard, Ramganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Firoz Uddin Chowdhury said that no one has filed a complaint with the police station yet. If a complaint is received, legal action will be taken.
Belal Khan's son Md. Saiful Islam Sumon said that the case is being delayed as we are busy with the patient's treatment in Dhaka.
