Md. Kamal Hossain, Benapole (Jashore) Correspondent: BJP and Hindu Sanatanis have expressed their anger by holding a protest march and burning an effigy at the Petrapole border in Bangaon, West Bengal, India, across the Benapole border in protest of the beating and burning of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh.
On Wednesday (December 24, 2025) around noon, slogans like “We do not accept barbed wire”, “Vande Mataram”, “Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai”, “All Hindus of the world unite”, “Jihadis beware, Razakars beware” rang out from the Petrapole border in India. These slogans could also be heard clearly at the Benapole check post area on the Bangladesh border. The entire border area was shaken by such slogans.
Several party leaders, including BJP MLA Asim Sarkar, participated in the procession along with Hindu Sanatanis in the protest program. Bangaon North BJP MLA Ashok Kritania was also present. Protesters marched in the Petrapole border area with open hands and drums. 'Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai', 'All Hindus of the world unite', 'We do not accept barbed wire' - the speakers demanded the security of minority Hindus in Bangladesh and the prompt arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the murder of Dipu Das.
Protester Jyotsna Sarkar said, "This is our procession to strongly condemn the incident of burning a Hindu youth in Bangladesh. The protest will be stronger if the atrocities against Hindus do not stop. We do not accept barbed wire."
Another protester said, “Let the oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh stop. Let all Hindus in the world be united. We will not accept any obstacles if one more Hindu is oppressed. The wave of this movement will hit Bangladesh. Another speaker said, “The killing of Hindus has now become a daily occurrence in Bangladesh. That is why the flame of protest is increasing every day, the flames of which are spreading from district to district.” Protest programs were also held on the same issue at the Indo-Bangla border in Fulbari, the Manoharpur-Muchiya border in Malda and in front of the Ghojadanga port.
Incidentally, Dipu Chandra Das (28), a garment factory worker in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh, was beaten up on the night of December 18 on charges of insulting religion. Later, his body was taken to the side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and set on fire. The deceased Dipu Das is the son of Ravi Chandra Das of Mokamia Kanda village in Tarakanda upazila and had been working at the ‘Pioneer Knitwears BD Limited’ factory for two years.
The speakers alleged that the horrific picture of violence against minorities in Bangladesh has come to the fore again through this murder. At the same time, they also mentioned that the attacks on two leading media outlets in the country and the vandalism of the Chhayanaut Cultural Park are also worrying. In such a situation, protests are also being held on Indian soil against the atrocities of fundamentalists. Protesters said a storm had broken out and the interim government had been put on trial.
