Chapainawabganj Mahananda Battalion 59 BGB conducted a raid at Chakpara border of Shibganj upazila at approximately 9 pm on November 27 and recovered 3 illegal foreign one-shooter guns and 6 rounds of bullets. On the occasion of the upcoming 11th National Parliament elections, there is a possibility of smuggling of weapons, ammunition and explosives across the border by miscreants/terrorists in order to destabilize the law and order situation in the country. The BGB Director General has issued special instructions to stop the smuggling. In light of the Director General's instructions, the captain came to know through his own intelligence information that the Chapainawabganj Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) will enter Bangladesh through the border area. For that purpose, strict surveillance has been increased along with its own intelligence patrol activities in the 75-kilometer border area under the responsibility of this battalion for the past one month. In this context, on November 27, at approximately 9 pm, under the direction of Mahananda Battalion 59 BGB, a smart patrol team of Chakpara BOP under the battalion conducted a special operation on the banks of the Pagla River in the area called Naldubi Bridge in Shahbazpur Union under Shibganj Police Station of Chapainawabganj district, approximately 25 yards inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar 183/4-S. In the said operation, the patrol team recovered 03 foreign one-shooter guns and 06 rounds of bullets without owner. Initially, it is believed that the recovered weapons are planned to be used for internal law and order and terrorist activities in the country. The process of handing over the recovered weapons and bullets and diaries to Shibganj Police Station is underway. It is worth mentioning that, Chapainawabganj Mahananda Battalion 59 BGB has been able to seize 30 domestic/foreign pistols, 392 rounds of bullets and 41 magazines along with 15 accused in the last 3 years by conducting operations in the border areas. In this regard, Chapainawabganj Mahananda Battalion Commander Lt. Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGOM confirmed the truth of the matter. He also said that in order to implement the zero tolerance policy against arms, ammunition, drugs and smuggling, special patrols are being conducted in the border areas, including increasing operational activities, which will continue in the future.
