Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (59 BGB) have seized a huge quantity of narcotic tablets at the Chapainawabganj border.
On Sunday (November 23), at 1.20 am, a special patrol team of the BOP under the Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) conducted a raid on a sugarcane field located in Garer Math, Chamucha village, Bholahat union, Bholahat upazila, Chapainawabganj district, approximately 200 yards inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 196/5-S. Based on secret information, it was learned that a huge quantity of narcotic tablets were stored at the raid site and smugglers would take the opportunity to smuggle them into the country. In view of that specific information, the operation was immediately conducted and the patrol team was able to recover 3,190 pieces of Indian narcotic tablets (TENSIWIN) wrapped in a plastic bag in a unique way by searching the sugarcane field. At present, the process of handing over the recovered tablets to Bholahat Police Station through a general diary is underway, a press release said.
In this regard, the commander of Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGOM confirmed the truth of the matter. He said, the BGB's operational activities are in full swing to implement the zero tolerance policy against all types of smuggling, including drugs, which will continue in the future.
