Md. Kamal Hossain Benapole (Jashore)
Representative: A discussion and prayer program was organized by the Benapole Municipal BNP on the occasion of the 7th death anniversary of the late member of the BNP National Standing Committee, former minister and architect of Jessore's development, the late public leader Tariqul Islam.
The program was presided over by Benapole Municipal BNP President Md. Nazim Uddin, and the municipal BNP General Secretary Md. Abu Taher Bharat.
The chief guest of the program was former member of parliament and former BNP central office secretary Md. Mofiqul Hasan Tripti.
Former Sharsha Upazila BNP President Md. Khairuzzaman Madhu and Upazila BNP Senior Joint Secretary Mostafa Kamal Mintu were present as special guests.
Also present were Municipal BNP Senior Vice President Md. Masudur Rahman Milon, Vice President Md. Shahabuddin, Atikuzzaman Soni, Joint General Secretaries Md. Rezaul Karim and Meherullah, Organizing Secretary Abdul Ahad Akhter and leaders of various levels of the party.
Also present at the event were Jessore District Jubo Dal Joint Convener Md. Imdadul Haque, Benapole Municipal Jubo Dal Convener Md. Mofizur Rahman Babu, Member Secretary Md. Rayhanuzzaman Dipu, Joint Conveners Joni Haider and Md. Ashrafuzzaman Mirza, Volunteer Dal Convener Md. Shahidul Islam Shahid, Member Secretary Md. Omar, Municipal Chhatra Dal Convener Md. Arifur Rahman and Member Secretary Istiak Ahmed Shaon.
The speakers at the discussion remembered the political life, contributions and struggle history of the late Tariqul Islam. Chief guest Mofiqul Hasan Tripti said,
“Tariqul Islam was a true patriot and a soldier of democracy. During the movement against the dictatorship of Irshad, he was arrested and subjected to unspeakable torture - even 32 of his teeth were removed as a result of the torture. Yet, he did not back down from the struggle for democracy and the rights of the people.
At the end, a special prayer was held to pray for the forgiveness of the soul of the late Tariqul Islam.
