Representative: In Benapole, Jessore, cash payment of Tk 50,000 and Tk 1 lakh each has been made to the families of two labor workers of Land Port Handling Workers Union 925 after their death.
On Monday (November 17) at 10:30 am, financial assistance of Tk 1 lakh was provided to the families of labor workers Ziarul Islam of Balunda village of Benapole Port Police Station and Baktiar of Bora Anchra village of Benapole Municipality from the (Welfare of Workers Union 925) fund by the acting president of the union, Tabibur Rahman Tabi, and general secretary, Shahid Ali.
Shahinur Akhtar, wife of ordinary worker Ziaurul Islam, and Rehena Begum, wife of Baktiar Rahman, received the cash as a posthumous amount.
Present at the time were Benapole Land Port Handling Workers Union 925 Acting President Tabibur Rahman Tobi, General Secretary Shahid Ali, Organizing Secretary Rafiqul Islam, Assistant General Secretary (1) Abdul Majid and Assistant General Secretary (2) Ziaur Rahman, Assistant and Organizing Secretary Idris Ali Doctor, Treasurer Sabuj Hossain, Executive Member Kamruzzaman and all the workers of 925 were present.
Benapole Land Port Handling Workers Union 925 General Secretary Shahid Ali said, "If our BNP's Tarique Rahman comes to power in the coming days, we will be able to extend more support to the workers. We will also make arrangements so that this family receives government grants."
He also said that our BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has nominated Anindya Islam Amit, the acting organizational secretary of the Khulna division of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), from Jessore-3 constituency, and on the instructions of Anindya Islam Amit, this helpless family is being kept in touch at all times.
And he expressed his condolences to this helpless family.
925 acting president Tabibur Rahman Tabi said that usually no check is given to a worker posthumously. However, if a worker dies, his family is provided with financial assistance from the (Labor Welfare Fund), which can provide medical treatment and education for their children.
