Md. Kamal Hossain Benapole (Jasore) Correspondent: A newborn baby was rescued from the bank of the Hakar river, located between Gazipur and Namaz villages in Ward No. 2 of the Benapole Port Thana municipal area, Jessore.
This great initiative was taken by Dr. Kazi Nazib Hasan, Executive Officer (UNO) of Sharsha Upazila of Jessore district.
On Wednesday (November 12) morning, people in the area saw the baby lying on the bank of the Hakar. A family named Ali Hossain Kalu, who lives there, bravely rescued the baby and kept him with them as an adoptive parent.
When the people of the area informed the Benapole Municipality, the administrator in charge of the municipal office and Dr. Kazi Nazib Hasan, Executive Officer (UNO) of Sharsha Upazila, reached the spot and inquired about the baby.
The UNO said that the newborn's health and other matters were investigated, and the child is healthy under the supervision of a doctor. For now, the newborn is with the rescue family with the administration's monitoring and financial assistance. Later, further legal action will be taken through the Upazila Child Welfare Board.
In this regard, Benapole Port Police Station SI Manik Kumar Saha said that Dattak Ali Hossain Kalu (48), father-Md. Siddique, mother-Mocha. Nurjahan Khatun, resident of that area, appeared at this police station and informed that on Wednesday (November 12) at around 7 am, he heard the sound of a baby crying in the vegetable garden next to his house.
Ali Hossain, his wife Mocha. Nargis Begum and local people went to the vegetable garden and saw a mentally challenged woman lying down and her newborn child lying next to her. Then Ali Hossain's wife and the people around them put clothes on the naked body of the madman and cut the baby's umbilical cord. Later, the madman, seeing the face of his child, left the child and left for an unknown place. After searching for a long time, they could not find the madman anywhere and kept the child in their (Ali Hossain Kalu) custody.
