Cox's Bazar's Ramu Battalion (30 BGB) has recovered 60,000 pieces of Burmese Yaba in a special operation in the border area. A person has been arrested with drugs. The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba is Tk 18 million.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said that on Thursday (November 21, 2025), a special operation was conducted at the Marichya Joint Checkpost under the Ramu Battalion at around 5 pm based on intelligence information. The patrol team led by Assistant Director Md. Kabir Hossain stopped a suspicious private car.
The driver of the car, Helal Uddin (53), initially denied carrying any kind of illegal goods. Later, the private car was searched and 60,000 pieces of Burmese Yaba were found specially hidden under the body panel.
Detained Helal Uddin is the son of the deceased Nurul Amin of Jhautala Garir Math area of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila.
Ramu Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said, "In addition to border security, the BGB is always performing its duties with the utmost professionalism in controlling narcotics. Our such operations will continue."
BGB said that legal action is in the process of being taken against the recovered Yaba and the arrested accused.
