A press conference was held in Chapainawabganj to protest against publishing false news and propaganda of rape. On Friday (October 24) at 11 am, a member of the Army (Retd) named Md. Amirul Islam alias Nairul (48) held this press conference in the hall room of the Model Press Club Chapainawabganj.
In a written statement, this former army officer named Nairul said, "Some dangerous journalists have published news on several pages including the unregistered Bhuiphor Facebook page Chapai Journal, accusing me of false rape by falsely accusing a woman of rape on an online platform. Which is completely false and baseless. I strongly condemn and protest against publishing false news and propaganda of rape. I would also like to inform you that the said disabled woman is from my area and is known to my wife, and by capitalizing on this matter, a selfish group is trying to blackmail me and extort money from me. Furthermore, without getting any financial benefit from me, they have published news mentioning me as a rapist, a fascist Awami League leader, a cocktail blaster, a mosque vandal, and the right of the chairman of Maharajpur Union, which is completely false and baseless. I would like to inform the countrymen through you that I am the son of a potential family of Maharajpur Union, I have served in the Bangladesh Army for three days and retired with good reputation, I am not involved in the Awami League or any other party. Now I am involved in business and social service, I have never been involved in any attack, looting, or even any cocktail explosion incident. Maharajpur Union Chairman Nahid Islam Rajan is a talented child of this area, I have been reported as his right hand man because I am present and do his good and social service work together. I would like to inform you that I once again strongly protest against all the information terrorism against me. The press conference was attended by the victim, former army officer Md. Amirul Islam alias Nairul Army, Army Sergeant (A) Akhtar, alleged rapist Nupur (pseudonym), Nupur's father Jalal, sister Momtaz, brother-in-law Selim Ahmed Jinjir, Professor Khalid, Nasir Uddin and other family members of the victim.
