Local residents blocked a Janani Paribahan bus at the Alipur Pole on the Ramganj-Sonaimuri road for some time from Monday (20 October) morning.
According to local sources, passengers had been suffering since there was no ticket counter for boarding and alighting passengers in that area for a long time. In addition, anger has been building among the locals as the bus driver and assistants often leave without picking up passengers.
This morning, when a Ramganj-bound Janani Paribahan bus tried to leave without picking up passengers, the locals blocked the vehicle. Later, they demanded the installation of a ticket counter and regular passenger pick-up.
After receiving the news, the Janani Paribahan authorities reached the spot and discussed with the locals. When they assured to quickly set up a temporary ticket counter at the place, the situation calmed down and the bus was released.
Local residents said, “Hundreds of passengers travel on this route every day. But since there is no counter, many times they face problems when they cannot buy tickets. Hopefully, this time there will be a permanent solution.”
On the other hand, an official of Janani Paribahan said, “We consider the demands of the locals to be appropriate. Arrangements will be made to set up a ticket counter soon.”
