While conducting patrol in Charbhubanpara village of Ashariadah union under Godagari police station of Rajshahi district, a patrol team on the border came to know based on secret information that there is a possibility of drug smuggling on motorcycles through the Eidgah intersection area. The patrol team started keeping a secret watch on the place. At approximately 03:30 hrs, they saw 02 persons coming on a suspicious motorcycle. When the patrol team signaled them to stop, they abandoned the motorcycle and tried to run away. The patrol team immediately chased and was able to arrest 01 rider of the motorcycle.
Later, the patrol team searched the bag kept in the motorcycle of the arrested person and found 02 kg of Indian heroin. Initial interrogation revealed that his name is Md. Hasan (28), father Md. Mokhlesur Rahman and the absconding person Md. Mizan (30) both belong to village- Diyarmanikchar, post- Ashariadah, police station- Godagari and district- Rajshahi. The process of handing over the seized heroin and motorcycle to Godagari police station is under process for taking appropriate legal action against the arrested and absconding accused.
In this regard, Lt. Col. Md. Monir-uz-Zaman, PSC, Commander of Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB), confirmed the truth of the matter.
