Mahidul Islam Farhad
Chapainawabganj District Representative
A day-long seminar titled Youth Employment and Mango Export was held in Chapainawabganj on Friday (May 23) at the initiative of Chapainawabganj Forum. More than 400 youth entrepreneurs participated in the seminar held at the Shatu Hallroom in the district town.
Speaking as the chief guest at the seminar, Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul, member of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan South, Chairman of Chapainawabganj Forum, said that mango should be transformed into an industry. It is possible to transform mango into an industry by using mango as a multi-processed product including juice, pickles and other products throughout the year. Although there is a mango research center in Chapainawabganj, it is very disappointing that this research center has not taken any steps to transform mango into an industry. Even in the 54 years of independence, the government or any past public representative of Chapainawabganj has not taken any steps to ensure the multi-purpose use of mangoes. Out of the 25,000 metric tons of mango production every year, 10,000 metric tons of mangoes are exported. The remaining mangoes are being wasted due to lack of planned measures. Proper use of the produced mangoes must be ensured.
He also said that mangoes are the economic driving force of Chapainawabganj. Apart from mango exports, various agricultural products are being produced in this district. The contribution of the people of Chapainawabganj district in agriculture is undeniable. Expressing his determination to build a mango industry in Chapainawabganj in the coming days, Nurul Islam Bulbul said that if the people give the opportunity, an economic zone will be built in Chapainawabganj. To make Chapainawabganj the center of the Mango Foundation, the Chapainawabganj Forum has organized a seminar titled Youth Employment and Mango Export. Farmers and entrepreneurs should be brought on the same platform and protected from middlemen to benefit the farmers. For this, he announced the creation of a smart app. In order to create new international markets, a mango exhibition fair will be organized with diplomats from different countries, and proper use of mango will be ensured through marketing of mango by simplifying transportation management with the help of the government. As a result, a lot of foreign exchange will be earned. He called on the young entrepreneurs present to eliminate unemployment by creating new entrepreneurs as well as stand tall in the world.
In the seminar, Professor Dr. Jasim Uddin, Department of Horticulture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, presented on "Quality Improvement and Market Expansion of Mango", Ismail Khan Shamim, Founder of Nawabi Mango, presented on "Problems and Solutions of Local Mango Export", Agricultural entrepreneur Md.
