The BGB has recovered 99 cocktails and 40 petrol bombs on the Chakpara border of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. Members of the Chakpara BOP of Mahananda Battalion 59 BGB recovered these explosives while on patrol.
At a press conference at the Mahananda Battalion headquarters of the BGB at around 8 pm on Thursday, the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, gave this information.
He said that on April 24, at approximately 2 pm, intelligence sources have received information that illegal explosives are likely to be transported from Chapainawabganj towards Rajshahi city through an unknown place in the area under the responsibility of the Chakpara BOP under the 59 BGB. In continuation of this, members of the Chakpara BOP of Mahananda Battalion 59 BGB increased their operational activities and patrolling in the area of responsibility. In that context, a smart patrol team led by Nayek Md. Majedul Islam of Chakpara BOP conducted an operation at the Koylabari Truck Terminal of Shahabajpur Union of Shibganj Police Station of Chapainawabganj district, approximately 01 km from the border main pillar 184. During the operation, 02 persons waiting for a vehicle fled after seeing the BGB patrol team, leaving 02 plastic crates near them. Then the BGB patrol team searched the two crates and recovered 99 cocktails wrapped in red tape and 40 petrol bombs made of glass bottles. A GD will be filed and submitted to Shibganj Police Station regarding the seized items.
He further said that the implementation of zero tolerance policy against arms, ammunition and explosives at the border and the increase in operational activities of the BGB in the border areas to protect the lives and property of the general public of the country, including special operations, will continue. In the future, the BGB will always be vigilant at the border to prevent arms, ammunition and explosives from entering the country and to prevent miscreants from creating mischief by using the border areas.
