Police have arrested Ariful Islam alias 'Bhota Chor' and another person with stolen gold ornaments and cash in Chapainawabganj. The stolen gold ornaments and cash were recovered in the operation.
On Monday (April 21), around 12:30 pm, the Bhata Chor was arrested from the Nachol area of the district. Two pairs of earrings worth 11 annas 7 rati, a gold ring worth 2 annas 5 rati, a pair of gold-plated bronze bangles and 15,000 taka in cash were recovered from his house.
Additional Superintendent of Police Wasim Firoz gave this information at a press conference organized in the conference room of the Chapainawabganj Police Superintendent's office on Tuesday (April 22) afternoon.
The arrested Ariful Islam alias Bhata Chor (30) is the son of Md. Dulal of Lakshipur Masterpara area of Sadar upazila. Shri Swadhin Nandi (53), son of the deceased Anil Chandra Nandi of Shivtala Karmakarpara area of the district town, has been made the second accused in the case and has also been arrested on charges of purchasing stolen goods.
Police said that legal action has been taken against the arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
