Shant Howlader, vice president of Haripur Fishermen's Cooperative Association, who has been leasing the bill for the past 15 years, filed a case in court over the lease of Kalitala Bill in Chapainawabganj.
On March 27, the bill was leased through a tender by Namonimgachhi Haripur Fishermen's Cooperative Association, which upset the controversial Assistant Fisheries Officer of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, Md. Naimul Haque, for the sole reason that he has been sold to 'money' money. The Haripur Fishermen's Cooperative Association, which he controls, has been cultivating fish in the bill for 9 years in 3 consecutive terms. This time, this officer started conspiring when the Haripur Fishermen's Cooperative Association did not get the lease of the bill. The government bill was poisoned, the lease process was filed against the Sadar Upazila Executive Officer and all the concerned in the court, the ignorant Shanto Howlader. Not only that, but even though he is a government official, he is a shareholder of this bill, which is a punishable crime.
It is learned that the Haripur Kalitala bill was leased through a tender by Namonimgachi Haripur Fishermen's Cooperative Society, a case was filed in the court to cancel that lease, the court formed a 3-member investigation committee consisting of Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Moss. Eliza Khatun, Upazila Cooperative Officer Md. Anisur Rahman and Upazila Social Service Officer Kanchan Das and asked them to submit a report. Yesterday, Wednesday (April 21), when the investigation team went to investigate the bill on the spot, Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Md. Md. Naimul Haque went there illegally with Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Moss. Eliza Khatun. There, he obstructed the investigation work. When the Upazila Cooperative Officer and Investigation Officer Md. Anisur Rahman felt annoyed by his hostile behavior, Assistant Fisheries Officer Naimul abused him in foul language and rushed to beat him. At that time, another Investigation Officer and Upazila Social Service Officer Kanchan Das caught him, a video of this time was spread on social media.
Upazila Executive Officer Mosa Tasmina Khatun said, I heard the incident and saw the video. It was not right for Assistant Fisheries Officer Naimul to do this, it is a shameful matter and the Upazila administration is embarrassed by this. I will inform the rescue officer about the matter.
A fisherman named Sadirul Islam said, Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Naimul Haque is a friend of the fascist Awami League and extorts a huge amount of money from the lessees of various ponds and lakes in the Upazila and has no shares. We, the people, have only one demand: the removal and trial of Assistant Fisheries Officer Naimul.
Upazila Cooperative Officer Md. Anisur Rahman admitted the truth of the incident and said, when we went to investigate the bill on the instructions of the Honorable Court, Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Mr. Naimul Haque, although he was not a member of the investigation committee, appeared there with the Upazila Senior Officer and obstructed the investigation work. When I got upset, he also misbehaved with me, as you have seen in the video, he came to beat me.
Despite calling Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Eliza Khatun repeatedly in this regard, she did not answer the phone and when Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Md. Naimul Haque was asked about several irregularities, he arrogantly said, you are a 2-day journalist, you have the power to say, if you can, do something for me.... If Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Eliza Khatun can do a PhD, do something for her too.
There are multiple allegations against this Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Naimul Haque, allegations of illegally catching nets in the Padma and Mahananda rivers of the Upazila, burning them and selling them, taking shares in various government ponds and bills as a government official, bribery and having picnics with bill lessees, etc. The question of the general public is who is this Naimul Haque and where is his footing?
