A complaint has been filed against local influential people for attempting to seize a farmer's land in Patnitala, Naogaon. The victim farmer Abdul Goffar has filed a written complaint with the Patnitala police station on Tuesday, February 11.
It is learnt from the complaint that when farmer Abdul Goffar went to cultivate his own land (mentioned in the complaint) on February 6 at 9 am to plant paddy for the current season, several local influential people including Ujjal Hossain, Md. Afizuddin, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Md. Badal Hossain, Md. Sumon Hossain and several others formed a group and obstructed the victim farmer Abdul Goffar and abused him in foul language. At that time, when the victim farmer Abdul Goffar forbade him from abusing them, they attacked him with iron rods and truncheons, and the farmer Abdul Goffar ran for safety in fear of his life.
The victim farmer Abdul Goffar said, "They have been trying to forcefully seize my land for several days. They have also tried to seize land in another place of mine before, but could not seize that land due to the intervention of the army."
In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Patnitala Police Station, Shah Mohammad Enayetur Rahman, said, "We have received a written complaint. We will investigate and take action as per the rules."
